Why is this course called The Professional Bookkeeper's Guide...?

The Professional Bookkeeper's Guide to QuickBooks is designed to teach anybody how to use QuickBooks. Whether or not you consider yourself a bookkeeping "professional," this course is designed for you.

Universal also offers a Professional Bookkeeper training course, which teaches people how to do bookkeeping for small businesses. The Professional Bookkeeper's Guide to QuickBooks and Universal's Professional Bookkeeper program are independent programs, but they also compliment each other nicely. The Professional Bookkeeper's Guide to QuickBooks is for anyone who wants to become a confident QuickBooks user.

Do I need to know accounting?

By all means, NO! The course begins with accounting basics, but if you already have that basic knowledge, the course teaches you faster and easier ways to apply that knowledge to QuickBooks.

What does the course cover?

The Professional Bookkeeper's Guide to QuickBooks covers virtually everything that can be done with the QuickBooks program. If a difficulty level were assigned, we feel this course merits a beginner to intermediate skill rating. The course covers all the functions available in both QuickBooks and QuickBooks Pro. As far as the course goes, if the QuickBooks program does it, we teach it.

Do I earn CPE credits?

It could be worth up to 30 CPE credits depending upon your state's registration requirements. We recommend you check with your state to know for sure.

How is the course organized?

Throughout The Professional Bookkeeper's Guide to QuickBooks training, students complete, from scratch, the financial books for several small companies.

The complete Professional Book keeper's Guide to QuickBooks is contained on 16 CD-ROMs with more than 12 hours of training. It will take students about 18 hours to complete the course. The training is comprised mostly of screen movies of the QuickBooks program itself showing you how to actually enter the transactions, create the reports, etc. You see the cursor movements and the transactions as if you were doing them yourself while listening to Mr. Peterson narrate the process. There are also PowerPoint presentations used to explain some of the more complicated accounting functions. Users can choose which sections they want to watch, skip, fast forward or replay.

Does the course cover the Mac version?

We don't cover all of the specifics of the newer Mac versions, but the process of entering the transactions and how the program works are essentially the same. Students often feel slighted seeing the functions they are unable to perform on their Mac versions of QuickBooks. The Professional Bookkeeper's Guide to QuickBooks CD-ROM's will not run on a Mac; see question below.

Does the course price include the QuickBooks software?

NO. You will need to purchase the QuickBooks software. You can call us and we will give you a suggestion as to which version you will need for your business type. The course covers all the functions available in both QuickBooks and QuickBooks Pro.

If you have any questions or problems with the training CDs, you will be provided a phone number for over-the-phone support. We also offer all our students free QuickBooks e-mail support for 1-6 months, depending on how many Modules the Student enrolls in.
